To Study the Efficacy and Safety of Doxercalciferol on Spinal and Femoral Density in Postmenopausal Osteopenic Women in a Long Term 2 Year Study

This study focused on evaluating the efficacy and safety of the drug doxercalciferol. The main objective was to investigate its impact on bone density in the spine and femur. Postmenopausal women suffering from osteopenia were included in the research. The study was designed as a long-term investigation, lasting two years. As part of the interventions, participants received either doxercalciferol capsules (Hectorol®) or matched placebo capsules. The primary conditions monitored included bone mineral density of the spine and femur. The study was sponsored by Creighton University and Bone Care International. The research has been successfully completed.
