Methylene Blue Came Up Between Cases

Methylene blue is a medication used in various clinical situations. Its common uses include the treatment of methemoglobinemia and vasoplegic syndrome after cardiac surgery. It is also utilized in refractory vasodilatory shock and for diagnostic tissue staining. For methemoglobinemia, the typical dosage is 1-2 mg/kg administered intravenously over 5 minutes. For vasoplegia, it is often given as an intravenous bolus at a dose of 1.5-2 mg/kg, with infusion potentially considered. It is important to avoid administering it to patients with G6PD deficiency. Caution is advised when used concurrently with SSRIs and other serotonergic medications. It may also cause falsely low pulse oximetry readings.
