Insect bites are experienced by almost everyone and usually cause only itching and redness that disappears within a few hours. However, according to experts, approximately one-quarter of people may develop a more serious local reaction with swelling larger than ten centimeters that lasts longer than a day. The General Health Insurance Company recorded 18,520 patients treated for insect bites last year, most commonly from mosquito, wasp, and flea bites. First aid involves quickly removing the stinger by carefully scraping it with a fingernail and cooling the affected area. Experts emphasize that insect bites should not be underestimated, as some patients may experience serious allergic reactions requiring immediate medical attention.
