The application effect of mini midline catheters in intravenous therapy for neurology patients: real-world evidence from eastern China

The study examined the safety and efficacy of ultrasound-guided mini midline catheters combined with Accelerated Seldinger Technique in 136 neurology department patients. All patients were successfully catheterized with a one-time puncture success rate of 77.2% and mean operation time of 9.15 minutes. The mean catheter indwelling time was 12.44 days with low pain during placement (1.74 points). Overall complication rate was 11.0%, with catheter blockage being the most common (5.1%). Higher daily infusion volume was associated with increased complication incidence and longer indwelling time. Patient satisfaction reached 89.7%. The mini midline catheter proved safe and suitable for short- to mid-term intravenous therapy with higher daily infusion volume requirements.
