BIO 2026: NVIDIA announces the BioNeMo toolkit for AI agents

NVIDIA unveiled the BioNeMo toolkit at the BIO International Convention in San Diego (June 22–25, 2026), a package of tools specifically designed for AI agents in life sciences research and development. According to Kimberly Powell, Vice President of NVIDIA Healthcare, the life sciences R&D industry, valued at $300 billion, is at an inflection point. General-purpose AI agents can conduct research but spend considerable time and computing power locating and operating the correct tools, often failing to use them successfully. The BioNeMo toolkit addresses this gap by providing AI agents with necessary tools and instructions on their use. The toolkit includes tools such as MONAI (imaging framework), PaReBrick (genomics), and cuEquivariance (modeling software). Nearly 50 partners have already adopted the toolkit, including companies like Dassault Systèmes, Lila Sciences, Schrödinger, and Tecan. NVIDIA states that the toolkit will be available without international barriers, including in China.
