Europe is experiencing extreme heat waves with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, with France and Spain reaching up to 44 degrees. High temperatures pose serious health risks as they severely strain the heart and kidneys, with warm nights being particularly problematic as the body cannot regenerate. Seniors, children under five, people with chronic diseases, and homeless individuals are at greatest risk. Heat waves kill approximately half a million people annually. Experts recommend avoiding sun exposure between 11 and 15 o'clock, increasing water intake, wearing loose clothing, and keeping windows closed during the day. The number of deaths can be reduced through proper building cooling, early warning systems, and quality healthcare.
