Case Report: Modified therapeutic strategy for corrosive esophageal stricture—endoscopic balloon dilation combined with acellular dermal matrix transplantation

Esophageal stricture caused by corrosive substance ingestion is a serious condition that causes difficulty swallowing, chest pain, and vomiting. The article describes a case of a 21-year-old male who accidentally ingested acidic toilet cleaner and subsequently developed severe esophageal stricture. The patient underwent 13 previous endoscopic procedures without successful long-term results. A new therapeutic strategy combining endoscopic balloon dilation with acellular dermal matrix transplantation was successfully performed and led to significant improvement in symptoms and quality of life. This case report demonstrates the feasibility and potential efficacy of the combined approach in treating severe esophageal strictures caused by corrosive substances.
