In 2025, the total number of births in the Czech Republic fell to a new historical low. Conversely, the share of children conceived through assisted reproduction is steadily growing, reaching 6.6% of all births in 2025. The total number of children born in 2025 decreased by 8% year-on-year, falling below 80,000, specifically to 75,761 births. Of this number, 67,769 births were from spontaneous pregnancies and 4,979 from assisted pregnancies. In 2014, assisted reproduction accounted for only 3.3% (3,546) of 106,971 births, indicating a massive increase over a decade. The absolute number of births of children conceived through assisted reproduction increased by 40% during this period. Public health insurance covers standard IVF cycles for women up to 39 years of age (up to four times), but couples often pay extra for premium services. The success rate of IVF is highest in women under 35, ranging between 40 and 50% per cycle.
