Cultivating medical humanistic literacy through immersive case-based practical teaching in undergraduate pathophysiology education

The study explored a novel model of medical humanities education empowered by digital and intelligent technologies. The research team developed a digital practice platform and integrated medical humanities scenarios into the pathophysiology course. Eighty medical students were randomly divided into a control group receiving traditional case discussion teaching and an experimental group receiving immersive case-based practical teaching. The experimental group achieved significantly higher scores in medical humanistic literacy, higher correct rates on chapters covered in case discussions, and greater interest in extracurricular medical practice activities. Students in the experimental group demonstrated an emotional orientation centered on the patient. The results show that immersive case-based practical teaching effectively promotes the development of medical humanistic literacy and its synergistic integration with professional education.
