Další útok medvěda na Slovensku: Muž skončil v nemocnici, zvíře zastřelili

On Tuesday evening, a bear attacked a 41-year-old man near the village of Liptovská Porúbka, close to Liptovský Mikuláš. The man sustained lacerations and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. An intervention team subsequently shot the bear. This is another in a series of bear-human encounters in Slovakia; just last weekend, a hunter also shot another bear in central Slovakia after an attack. Slovakia and Romania, with the support of other states including the Czech Republic, are requesting a reduction in the protection status of bears in the European Union. According to information, more than half of the EU's bear population lives in these two countries. The Slovak government approved a proposal to cull 350 bears more than a year ago in response to these incidents.
