Effect of Platelet-Rich Plasma on Eardrum Healing and Hearing After Tympanoplasty in Adults

The study examined the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on eardrum healing and hearing restoration in adult patients with chronic otitis media and tympanic membrane perforation. Patients were divided into two groups: one group received PRP-impregnated absorbable gelatin sponge and the other group received only dry absorbable gelatin sponge. The study focused on comparing the effectiveness of both approaches in eardrum healing and hearing improvement. The research was conducted by Dr. Ebubekir Toprak and was successfully completed. The objective was to determine whether PRP application could improve the outcomes of tympanoplasty surgery.
