Customs officers in Prague, together with the State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL) and police, discovered a warehouse containing tens of thousands of packages of illegal medicines, primarily for erectile dysfunction support. The warehouse contained 45,547 packages of medicines representing 39 different types of preparations that were ready for distribution in the Czech Republic and other EU countries. According to SÚKL director Tomáš Boráň, this is one of the largest drug seizures in the history of SÚKL's cooperation with customs. Illegal handling of medicines is a violation punishable by fines up to 20 million crowns. Customs officers also seized over 200 pieces of electronics infringing intellectual property rights worth more than one million crowns. The institute warns that purchasing illegal medicines poses a risk to users because it is impossible to determine what substances they contain or whether they are contaminated.
