Midazolam Adjunct Therapy for Prevention of PONV in Gynecological Laparoscopy

This article discusses midazolam adjunct therapy for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). PONV is a common complication after anesthesia, particularly occurring after gynecological laparoscopic surgeries. The study investigated the use of midazolam as an adjunct to standard treatment. Specifically, midazolam was administered intravenously at a dose of 0.05 mg/kg. It was used as an adjunct to dexamethasone and ondansetron, which are commonly employed for PONV prevention. The aim was to reduce the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing gynecological laparoscopy.
