Scientists have developed a new nanocrystalline catalyst composed of nickel, molybdenum, and magnesium oxide (Ni–Mo–MgO) suitable for industrial-scale production. This catalyst is used for hybrid reforming of waste, a process that converts waste into useful fuel. The research was published in the journal Science in June 2026, Volume 392, Issue 6805, pages 1369–1374. Hybrid reforming represents a promising approach to energy transformation and utilization of waste materials. The nanocrystalline catalyst has the potential to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the waste-to-fuel conversion process. This technology may contribute to more sustainable waste management and fuel production.
