Medical systematic reviews are central to evidence-based medicine, but their creation is slow and labor-intensive. Researchers developed MedSR-Copilot, an artificial intelligence-powered assistant that automates the systematic review process in accordance with PRISMA standards. The system divides the work into five stages: literature retrieval, study screening, data extraction, risk-of-bias assessment, and evidence synthesis. MedSR-Copilot achieved 63.6% alignment with human conclusions, which is 18.3 percentage points better than other existing systems. In a study with 23 research groups, the time required to complete a review was reduced by 64.9% and the accuracy of conclusions improved by 27.4 percentage points compared to routine practice. The results demonstrate that MedSR-Copilot is a reliable and efficient tool to support medical research.
