The study focused on developing an accessible method for assessing geometric distortion in MRI imaging used in radiotherapy planning. The research utilized two phantoms - a commercial anthropomorphic phantom and a custom-made phantom fabricated from ABS plastic. CT imaging was used as the reference standard. Distortion was assessed through linear measurements of periodic structures in a DICOM viewer, followed by statistical analysis. The study evaluated the clinical impact of distortion on radiotherapy planning and proposed a cost-effective solution for routine quality assurance in resource-limited settings.
