Efficacy of a reduced-drug burden quadruple therapy with vonoprazan, cefuroxime, minocycline, and bismuth for Helicobacter pylori eradication: a retrospective study

The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a 14-day combined therapy consisting of vonoprazan, cefuroxime, minocycline, and potassium bismuth citrate for treating Helicobacter pylori infection. A retrospective analysis included 106 patients aged 18–80 years with positive H. pylori test. Treatment consisted of vonoprazan 20 mg once daily, cefuroxime 250 mg twice daily, minocycline 100 mg twice daily, and potassium bismuth citrate 220 mg twice daily. The eradication success rate reached 90.6% in the analysis of all patients and 96.0% in the analysis of patients who completed treatment. Adverse events occurred in 21.9% of patients, with mild dizziness and nausea being the most common, resolving without additional treatment. The study suggests that this quadruple therapy with half-doses of vonoprazan and cefuroxime is a potentially effective and safe regimen for H. pylori treatment.
