Regional Health Authority agreed with Professor Miloš Táborský on terminating his position as head of the Cardiology Clinic at Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem effective July 31. Táborský is connected to a case involving implantations of defibrillators in patients who did not need them, with police investigating hundreds of cases at Olomouc University Hospital between 2015 and 2025. The police are investigating suspicions of fraud and serious bodily harm, with potential damages exceeding 150 million crowns. Radim Špaček has been temporarily appointed to lead the clinic from August 1 and will continue established processes including internal control systems. The Regional Health Authority did not comment on details of the termination, citing its internal nature. The General Health Insurance Company is conducting inspections at both hospitals and found a threefold increase in defibrillator production at Masaryk Hospital over the past year.
