Telitacicept is a drug that inhibits BAFF and APRIL proteins and is considered a potential targeted therapy for IgA nephropathy. A systematic review included eight observational studies with a total of 459 patients comparing telitacicept with other immunosuppressive treatments. Telitacicept administered alone or in combination with other drugs showed no statistically significant differences in complete remission, changes in 24-hour urinary protein, kidney function, or serum creatinine levels. However, the safety profile of telitacicept was significantly better, with a lower incidence of adverse drug reactions compared to control treatments (OR 0.37). The authors conclude that telitacicept has a favorable safety profile and may be a well-tolerated therapeutic option, although larger prospective studies are needed to confirm its efficacy.
