Efficacy of Platelet Rich Plasma on Pelvic Floor Muscle Strength and Recurrence Rate in Pelvic Organ Prolapse Surgery

This article describes a study focused on the efficacy of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). The study investigated the effect of PRP on pelvic floor muscle strength. Another monitored parameter was the recurrence rate after surgical intervention. Specifically, the study concerned surgeries for pelvic organ prolapse. It compared a group of patients who underwent surgery with adjunctive PRP application. The control group received a placebo, specifically a sodium chloride (NaCl) injection, alongside standard surgery. The study was sponsored by Andalas University and Dr. M Djamil Hospital in Padang. This mentioned study has been completed.
