The study examined the effects of various exercise types on reducing inflammation in older adults aged 60 years and above. The analysis included 54 randomized controlled trials with 2,836 participants. Researchers compared five types of exercise: aerobic exercise, resistance training, combined training, mind-body exercise, and multi-component exercise. Results showed that aerobic exercise had the most favorable effect on reducing C-reactive protein. Mind-body exercises demonstrated favorable results in reducing interleukin-6, however, these findings were not sufficiently robust. The study indicates that exercise has beneficial effects on inflammatory biomarkers, with effects varying depending on exercise type and intensity.
