The study examined psychological well-being among caregivers of individuals with alcohol use disorders in India, where caregivers' needs are often overlooked despite significant stress and burden. The research incorporated Ayurvedic concepts that recognize the caregiver as a key pillar of treatment and emphasize specific caregiver qualities called "Parichara" qualities. The study included 125 caregivers from two tertiary care hospitals using a mixed-methods approach with quantitative measurement of psychological capital and psychological well-being. Results showed that socio-demographic variables predicted 37% of psychological well-being variability. The qualitative component with 10 participants revealed themes related to challenges, stressors, and psychological factors that help caregivers cope with difficulties. The study findings can help healthcare professionals enhance caregiver resilience and improve treatment adherence and community mental health services.
