A exploratory pilot method comparison study of two viscoelastic coagulation analyzers

This preliminary exploratory study evaluated the analytical performance of two different brands of viscoelastic coagulation analyzers. Real-time blood samples from ten anonymous patients were analyzed on both devices. Results were compared using several statistical methods, including Spearman correlation and Bland-Altman agreement analysis. Systematic biases and variable concordance were observed across several parameters. The current dataset does not support direct numerical interchangeability between the two platforms. This means that without further testing in larger groups, results from one device cannot be directly interchanged with results from the other. It is recommended that method-comparison studies using agreement-based statistical frameworks be considered when new platforms enter the market.
