A new wearable ultrasound patch may help individuals reach REM sleep faster and remain in it for longer periods. This technology operates without the need for medication or surgical intervention. In a study involving 28 participants, the device significantly shortened the time required to achieve REM sleep. Specifically, participants reached REM sleep 43 minutes earlier. Furthermore, the patch extended the duration of REM sleep by approximately 16 minutes. Researchers also observed signs of improved stress regulation. They noted changes in brain circuits linked to emotion. This discovery represents a promising non-invasive method for enhancing sleep quality.
