From January 2026, the scope of preventive check-ups at general practitioners has been adjusted to focus on early detection of health risks, particularly type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Adult insured persons are entitled to a covered preventive check-up once every two years, with the scope depending on the patient's age and health status. The new approach emphasizes mental health and overweight risk, including waist circumference measurement. For women, dental check-ups are covered once yearly, and gynecological check-ups once yearly from age 15 with cervical cancer screening and HPV testing at ages 35, 45, and 55. Comprehensive laboratory tests including blood count, liver tests, blood glucose, urinalysis, and lipid profile are performed at the initial check-up. Prevention is individualized by age group, with different examination intervals for women aged 18–39 and 40–49 years.
