Gamma tACS to Improve Cognitive Function in Mild Cognitive Impairment

The study investigated the application of gamma transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Gamma tACS is a non-invasive method that uses electrical currents applied to the scalp to influence brain activity. The research was conducted by the National Brain Mapping Laboratory (NBML) in collaboration with Mohaghegh Ardabili University and University Hospital Aachen. The study aimed to evaluate whether this form of stimulation could improve cognitive functions in MCI patients. The project was successfully completed. Mild cognitive impairment represents a condition characterized by a slight decline in cognitive abilities that is greater than normal aging but does not affect daily functioning.
