Patient Perspectives on Potential Implementation of Coordinated Family Care Visits for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease

The study examined patient perspectives on implementing group family medical appointments (SMA) for families with inherited cardiovascular disease. Sixteen families were included in the research, with a mean respondent age of 43.4 years and patients followed for an average of 7.3 years. As many as 81.2% of families (13 out of 16) would find family SMAs beneficial. Key benefits included increased understanding among adults, children, and healthcare providers (83.3% of respondents) and logistical and access advantages (50% of respondents). However, families identified potential challenges such as concerns about less individualized care, privacy issues, and worries about the smooth coordination of family visits. The majority of families believe that the family SMA model could provide added value, but it requires careful implementation tailored to the unique needs of individual families.
