Classifying mask ventilation: current evidence supports the MASCAN score, not capnography

This medical article focuses on the classification of face mask ventilation in anaesthetic practice. The work was published in the professional journal Anaesthesia within the EarlyView section. The text addresses the comparison of different approaches to evaluating and classifying mask ventilation in patients. According to the summarized findings, current scientific evidence supports the use of the MASCAN scoring system for this purpose. Conversely, available evidence does not support the use of capnography for the classification of mask ventilation itself. The article thus highlights the validity of the MASCAN score based on current evidence in clinical research.
