TAILORx was a phase 3 randomized clinical trial comparing endocrine therapy alone with combined chemotherapy and endocrine therapy in breast cancer patients. Researchers analyzed 6735 patients from this trial using the Ataraxis Breast CTX AI model, which combines morphological features from histological samples with clinical data. The CTX-prognostic model successfully predicted disease-free interval with a hazard ratio of 1.651 in patients treated with endocrine therapy alone and showed similar performance in patients treated with chemotherapy. Among intermediate-risk patients according to the Recurrence Score test, the CTX-benefit model identified a subgroup that had a 5% increase in five-year disease-free interval when chemotherapy was added. In contrast, the Recurrence Score test alone was unable to identify patients who would benefit from chemotherapy.
