Differential expression and clinical significance of angiotensin (1-7)/Ang II and Elabela/Ang II ratios in patients with acute heart failure and type I cardiorenal syndrome

The study examined serum levels of Elabela, apelin receptor, angiotensin II and other substances in 31 patients with acute heart failure, 38 patients with type I cardiorenal syndrome and 31 healthy controls. The ratios of angiotensin (1-7)/Ang II and Elabela/Ang II were elevated in both patient groups compared to the control group. However, the Elabela/Ang II ratio was significantly lower in the cardiorenal syndrome group compared to the acute heart failure group. This ratio negatively correlated with creatinine and positively correlated with eGFR in cardiorenal syndrome patients. The diagnostic value of the Elabela/Ang II ratio was 0.8783 for acute heart failure and 0.7530 for type I cardiorenal syndrome. The results suggest that the Elabela/Ang II ratio may be a useful indicator for diagnosing these conditions.
