Už žádné čekání na vrtulník z Plzně: Na letišti v Karlových Varech vznikne nová základna

Construction of a new air rescue service base will begin in autumn this year at the airport in Karlovy Vary. The construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 or May 2028, with the base becoming operational from 2028 or 2029. The construction will cost approximately hundreds of millions of crowns and will be financed from the Karlovy Vary Region budget. The base will be designed for two PZL-W3A Sokol helicopters and will also have space for a ground rescue service crew. Currently, rescue helicopters serving the Karlovy Vary Region fly mainly from Plzen or Usti nad Labem, which does not allow coverage of all parts of the region within the legally mandated 20-minute response time, particularly in the Krusne Mountains area.
