The study examined the effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RA) in patients with type 2 diabetes and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. A retrospective cohort study included 38,879 patients in each group, compared using propensity-score matching. Patients treated with GLP1-RA had lower all-cause mortality incidence (4.2% versus 12%) and lower risk of the primary composite outcome including myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and acute heart failure (32.5% versus 48.3%). GLP1-RA treatment was associated with lower risk of all secondary outcomes compared to the control group. The results suggest that GLP1-RA therapy is beneficial for patients with this type of heart failure and diabetes.
