The study examined the effect of the genetic variant rs373863828 on gene expression in adipose tissue of adult Samoans. Subcutaneous adipose tissue samples were obtained from 91 participants (65.9% female) without diabetes. Using mRNA sequencing, 22 genes with differential expression were identified depending on the variant genotype, including genes CBX7 and SELENOM, which play roles in fat formation and metabolism. Analysis showed that an expression profile of 13 of these 22 genes was associated with CREBRF genotype, and enriched terms such as keratinocyte differentiation and skin development were found. However, no differences were detected in the composition of cell types in adipose tissue between individual genotypes. The results suggest that the rs373863828 variant has minimal effect on the regulation of gene expression in adipose tissue.
