Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, known as the manufacturer of insulin and weight loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy, is changing its name to the simpler "Novo". The rebranding is purely a marketing move, while the company will retain the original name Novo Nordisk in legal documents. The change includes a new slogan "The Novo Way" and a logo update where the sacred bull Apis will move in the opposite direction. Novo Nordisk has been experiencing stagnation in recent years - while its shares have lost more than 70% of their value over the past two years, competitor American company Eli Lilly is growing rapidly with share increases of over 400% in five years. Novo Nordisk is the ninth pharmaceutical company and the hundredth company overall with a market value slightly exceeding 191 billion dollars, while Eli Lilly is the first pharmaceutical company with a market value exceeding one trillion dollars.
