Stained glass: the registrar bringing surgical dexterity to stained glass making

Chloe Paylor, an orthopaedic registrar at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Basingstoke, makes stained glass. According to her, the true outcome of a stained glass piece is only revealed when the finished work is held up to the light. On a desk or workbench, the glass is flat, and it's difficult to predict the final effect. However, once the stained glass is illuminated, it comes alive and gains a new dimension and vibrancy. Paylor has always enjoyed trying new crafts, especially those involving a transformative process, such as blacksmithing or pottery with a firing process. Similar to her specialty, she enjoys working with her hands and engaging in practical activities.
