Topical Lidocaine for Digital Nerve Block Pain

This study investigated the potential effectiveness of topical lidocaine in alleviating pain associated with digital nerve block. Digital nerve block is a common procedure used in the treatment of finger injuries, but it can be accompanied by procedural pain. The aim was to determine whether applying lidocaine spray to the skin before the procedure could effectively reduce this pain. The research compared two main interventions: an active topical lidocaine spray and a control placebo spray. The primary conditions monitored were finger injuries and the overall pain experienced during the procedure. The study was sponsored by Ankara City Hospital Bilkent and has already been completed.
