This study investigated the effect of providing genetic risk information on lifestyle changes in African Americans. The aim was to determine whether knowledge of genetic predisposition would influence health-related behaviors. The study focused on a wide range of health conditions, including diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertension. Other conditions monitored included obesity, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke risk. The intervention involved providing genetic testing using Color Genomics genetic testing panels. The research also touched upon pharmacogenomics and cancer genetics. The study was sponsored by the Pennington Biomedical Research Center and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). The project has been completed.
