Federal Court Enters Consent Decree Against Gold Star Distribution, Inc. Following Persistent Insanitary Warehouse Conditions

A federal court in Minnesota issued an order on September 21, 2026, prohibiting Gold Star Distribution, Inc. and its owner Bassam Abu Samrah from distributing FDA-regulated products including food, drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics until they correct their operations. An FDA investigation revealed persistent insanitary conditions including severe rodent and pest infestations that endangered product safety. During inspections in November and December 2025, nine live rodents, 17 dead rodents, eight live birds, and five live worms were found throughout the warehouse. Laboratory analyses confirmed the presence of rodent urine, excreta, hair, and gnaw marks on product packaging. The FDA and Minnesota Department of Agriculture conducted a total of 31 inspections since 2013, as rodents can carry pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli, which may cause illness in consumers.
