The State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL) warns pharmacy operators that medicines offered through pharmacy online stores in mail-order sales are not intended for supplying other pharmacies. SÚKL found that some pharmacy operators purchase registered medicines through online stores of other pharmacies, which is not permitted. Mail-order sales represent the final method of dispensing medicines to the public and are not considered distribution or an alternative pharmacy supply method. A pharmacy may obtain medicines from another pharmacy only exceptionally, if it does not have the medicine available and cannot obtain it from a distributor in the required time, or if the supplying pharmacy has unused stocks that cannot be returned to the distributor. Such transfers must be properly documented including batch and medicine code information. The legal exception is not intended for regular stock replenishment, using cheaper online store prices, or creating a regular supply channel between pharmacies. An operator conducting both pharmacy services and distribution must completely separate these activities in operations, storage, records, and documentation.
