The study examined young adults (18–49 years) and older adults (≥50 years) with stroke from three communities in Guangzhou. Younger patients had higher education levels, less physical activity, household chores, and social interaction, but better sleep quality. Initially, they showed a lower proportion of favorable functional outcomes (60% versus 65%), but after adjustment, the difference was not statistically significant. The rate of recurrent stroke was similar in both groups (4% versus 6%). The study concludes that differences in functional outcomes between young and older stroke patients are influenced by modifiable lifestyle factors. Early identification and timely intervention against these prognostic factors are important for reducing stroke recurrence in young adults and minimizing long-term consequences.
