Změny pro praktické sestry: Novela přesně určí, co smí a nesmí dělat

The draft amendment to the law on non-medical healthcare professions more precisely defines the competencies of practical nurses. The current list of activities will change from demonstrative to exhaustive, meaning the word "in particular" will be removed. Practical nurses will be able to perform activities such as administering medications, inhalations, blood collection, wound care, and catheter management, always under the professional supervision of a general nurse. The proposal also changes the conditions for obtaining professional competence for practical nurses by eliminating the requirement to previously complete a course for nursing assistants. Unlike general and pediatric nurses, practical nurses are not granted a framework for advanced practice. The aim of these changes is to more clearly separate the competencies of practical and general nurses and prevent practical nurses from being assigned tasks corresponding to general nurse qualifications.
