Congenital Amniotic Band Sequence

Congenital Amniotic Band Sequence is a rare congenital disorder that occurs when amniotic membranes rupture during fetal development and the resulting bands wrap around parts of the fetus. This condition can lead to various complications including deformities of fingers, hands, feet, and other tissues. Amniotic bands can restrict blood circulation and cause subsequent tissue damage in affected areas. Diagnosis is typically made during prenatal ultrasound examination or after birth based on visible signs. Treatment is primarily surgical and aimed at removing the bands and reconstructing affected tissues. The prognosis depends on the extent and location of the involvement.
