Boehringer and Envisagenics to develop precision cancer therapies

Boehringer Ingelheim and Envisagenics have entered a research collaboration aimed at developing precision therapies for treating solid tumours. Envisagenics is eligible to receive more than 1 billion dollars through various payments including upfront fees, research funding, and royalties from future sales. The partnership will focus on targets identified using Envisagenics' SpliceCore AI platform, which analyzes alternative RNA splicing events. The goal is to identify specific targets that would enable development of therapies that selectively attack cancer cells while minimizing impact on healthy cells. The research will cover antibody-drug conjugates, multi-specific antibodies, and T-cell engagers. The SpliceCore platform is capable of analyzing over 14 million alternative splicing events to predict target suitability.
