Boehringer and Envisagenics to develop precision cancer therapies in $1bn deal

Boehringer Ingelheim and Envisagenics have established a research collaboration aimed at developing precision therapies for treating solid tumours. Envisagenics is eligible to receive over $1 billion through various payments including upfront fees, research funding, options, and royalties from future sales. The partnership will focus on targets identified using Envisagenics' SpliceCore AI platform, which analyzes alternative RNA splicing events. This technology screens over 14 million alternative splicing events to predict target suitability. The goal is to develop therapies that selectively attack cancer cells while minimizing impact on healthy cells. The research will explore antibody-drug conjugates, multi-specific antibodies, and T-cell engagers.
