The study analyzed data from the Mozambique Demographic and Health Survey from 2022-2023 on a sample of 11,783 women of reproductive age. Results showed that only 27.6% of women use modern contraceptive methods. Modern contraceptive use was positively associated with younger age, higher education, employment, higher parity, greater wealth, and partner's education. The study revealed significant inequalities related to wealth and women's empowerment, with wealthier and more empowered women using modern contraceptive methods more frequently. The authors recommend focusing on improving access to contraceptive methods for economically disadvantaged women, promoting women's autonomy, and increasing awareness through media and community-based programs.
