At Masaryk Primary School in Újezd nad Lesy in Prague, a salmonella outbreak occurred due to the use of eggs past their minimum shelf life date in the preparation of pasta. Eggs with an expiration date until September 15 were processed on September 21. A total of 250 children and adults who consumed the contaminated food became ill, with 41 hospitalized and 13 cases laboratory-confirmed. The Prague Public Health Authority announced that administrative proceedings will be initiated against the food service operator and repeated inspections will be conducted. The school, which has approximately 1,100 students, has been closed and is undergoing complete disinfection.
