The genetics of schizophrenia . . . and other stories

The article presents three medical studies. The first three-year retrospective study in Helsinki emergency departments identified 184 traumatic brain injuries associated with riding electric scooters, with most cases occurring at night or on weekends. Eighty-two percent of patients were intoxicated and only 9 percent wore helmets. Sixteen percent of patients had intracranial abnormalities and four required surgery. The second study among 448 young adults from Chinese, Dutch, and Greek cultures found that maps of the most ticklish body areas were remarkably similar, with the neck, armpits, abdomen, and soles of the feet being the most sensitive areas. The third study concerns the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, which has remained unchanged for 40 years and has been translated into multiple languages.
