Ketamine Versus Dexmedetomidine as Adjuvants to Bupivacaine in Ultrasound Guided Bilateral Superficial Cervical Plexus Block in Thyroidectomy

The study compared the efficacy of ketamine and dexmedetomidine as adjuvants to bupivacaine in superficial cervical plexus block during thyroid surgery. The research was conducted using ultrasound-guided technique and included three patient groups: a control group and two experimental groups with ketamine and dexmedetomidine. The study was conducted at Tanta University and aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of these two adjuvants in local anesthesia. Bilateral block of both cervical plexuses provides anesthesia for the wide neck area required during thyroidectomy. The research was completed and provides data comparing these two pharmacological approaches.
